Spring, aka Don't Believe the Lies
the truth about spring, sales, and such good recommendations (tho I say it myself)!
Hi, hello, welcome!
It’s officially May! Flowers, grass, trees! Pollen for days. All the spring things.
GOD HELP US.
Look, I get it. Spring has an amazing hype team. Look, blooms! Look, blue skies! Look, the sun!
Rightrightright. Sure. Believe the fake news.
But those of us in East Tennessee know the truth. This is Antihistamine Awareness Season disguised in festival clothing.
So, we’ll enjoy the moderate temperatures and the vitamin D boost, but we’ll be sneezing. the. whole. time.
However, let’s talk about the interesting things happening and remember, you get it here first. If you haven’t subscribed yet, now is the time….
Book 3 releasing…
Book 3 is *this close* to being a fully developed book. The last few stages feel like a sprint, but, I’m learning, it’s really a marathon.
What I’m excited to share is, the new book cover will drop right here, in your inbox, before the end of this month. And it’s sooo pretty.
Karla Colahan, of The Inspired Foundry fame, worked her magic yet again and it is stunning.
And if you’re curious, does it get less nerve-wracking by the third book, putting your creative work into the world?
Sure. Sort of.
Current Book Sale!
And for a non-pollen related dopamine boost, my first book is on sale!
First Comes Love ebook is on sale on Amazon for .99. This only lasts a few more days so no pressure but GONOW. And, hey, while you’re at it, snag my Then Comes Marriage ebook too. You’ll have a pair, with a set on the way!
If you’re local to Knoxville, you can also pick up both of my books (lovely paperbacks and signed no less!) at our delightful local bookstores Union Ave Books and Fable Hollow.
Eager Anticipation
And to wrap this up, here are a few things I’m enjoying and eagerly anticipating in the next few months!
My husband and I just finished the Netflix show The Diplomat and it’s brilliant. I’m a huge Keri Russell fan; I think she gets more nuanced and skilled the older she gets. And Rufus Sewell, who’s never been my cup of tea (British metaphor intended, indeed) is a joy in this show. Not always likable, but so. dang. watchable.
Even bigger news, The Bear is coming back. The buzz says season 3 will drop June 1st and if you heard loud shouting from our neighborhood, it’s because my daughter and I saw that date and lost it. I can’t recommend this show enough, though for the 16+ crowd, I’d say (Dorothy was a late 15 when we watched the first two seasons).
Marian Keyes’s newest novel, My Favorite Mistake, will release here in the U.S. at the end of July. That feels far away but I’ll sneeze a few times and suddenly it will be summer and in my hands. I’m learning being a grown-up mostly means learning patience, while simultaneously hurtling through time at a breakneck speed.
And I have a lovely stack of romantic novels to dig into, including Funny Story, How to Plot a Payback, The Wake-Up Call, and Same Time Next Summer. If I read all of these books by the end of spring, that would be a lovely accomplishment.
Are any of these on your list to watch or read? Or do you have words about them? I’d love to hear below!
As always, your time is the kindest thing you can offer. I wish I could give you a big hug in person.
I’m so glad you’re here!
Take care,
Emily
I am excited for book 3!
JUNE 1??!!!??? Yes!!! I haven't read a Marianne Keys book in a long time, maybe I should give this next one a go!
